Joe Lauzon Makes Top MMA Submissions of 2011List (MMA / UFC)
January 31st, 2012

Since 2009, Joe Lauzon has not gone a fight without winning some type of bonus in the process. Coming off a Submission of the Night win over Curt Warburton, Lauzon looked to keep this streak going and rise the ranks when he took on Melvin Guillard at UFC 136. Not wanting to waste any time, Guillard looked to rush Lauzon, whose level head allowed him to tag the veteran lightweight, rocking Guillard in the process. Seeing his opponent in dire straits, Lauzon jumped on the chance to take Guillard's back before sinking in the rear-naked choke just 47 seconds into the fight. Taking Submission of the Night yet again, Lauzon jumped the lightweight ranks while keeping his award-winning streak still intact.  More »

Death to Long Slow Distance by Michael Boyle

May 27th, 2008

Long slow distance. Sounds like a torture method. “You've been sentenced to one year of long slow distance”. Long slow distance is often abbreviated LSD. Hmm? Acid, a hallucinogenic, makes you see things and damages your DNA if...  Read More »

Back to the Past by Michael Boyle

May 8th, 2008

This is the first of a three part series. I had the “opportunity” the other day to get a workout in at a commercial gym. To say that it was an interesting experience would be an understatement.

DON'T LIGHTEN UP by Michael Boyle

February 27th, 2008

Every time someone in a social setting finds out that I've worked with PGA golfers, the response is always the same. "I guess you guys do light weights and lots of stretching." It drives me nuts. One thing I hope...  Read More »

TONE. IS THAT A SCIENTIFIC WORD? by Michael Boyle

February 27th, 2008

Today's subject is tone. How often do we hear someone say, "I don't want to get too big, I just want to tone up"?

When I hear this, I want to laugh hysterically. It would be the nutritional equivalent of hearing...  Read More »

FOR THE LAST TIME: GARDENING IS NOT EXERCISE
Healthy people need hard work.
by Michael Boyle

February 27th, 2008

It's amazing how much marketing affects truth in fitness. I remember when machine training was all the rage because it was thought to be safer and more effective. The problem with this "truth" is that it was a lie or...  Read More »
